hime we have provided some tips on
how to take care of the cut flowers. This flower care information comes
very handy when you want that your flowers should live for more time.
1) Buy flowers with firm petals or with buds that show a degree of
colour to ensure the flowers will develop fully.
2) Always use clean vases or containers. This will prevent any bacteria
from ruining the quality of the flowers.
3) Remove all of the leaves which will be under the water while in the
vase. Leaves that are submerged will rot, thus creating bacteria and
shortening the life span of your flowers.
4) Change the water and flower food every three to four days.
5) Buy fresh flowers when they are in bud or half open this increases
the life span of the flowers.
6) Never place the floral arrangements in full sun or over a radiator.
This will cause excess water loss from the flowers, and they will wilt
very quickly. For a maximum life span the best place for your flowers is
in a cool room.
7) Use a container that is in proportion to the amount of flowers. Too
small of a container for the flowers will not hold enough water, and
they may dry out.
8) Once or twice a day lightly spray the arrangement with clear water
to create a humid atmosphime around the flowers.
9) If the flowers are to be kept out of water for some hours, cover the
stem ends with damp paper or pack them in their own water `pod'.
10) Use lukewarm water - thime's less oxygen in it, and helps prevent
air bubbles in the stem that will block water uptake. It also encourages
some flowers to open up. The only exception to this is spring bulb
flowers like daffodils and tulips which prefer cold water.
11) Cut stems at an angle. This gives the stem a bigger area to take up
more water, and stops it resting on the bottom of the vase and sealing
itself.
